In modern shipping, not only comfort and design are important, but also the efficiency and well-being of passengers and crew. To make the experience on board of the modern river cruise ship “Emerald Luna” even more pleasant, the ship was equipped with a sun protection solution that is not only functional but also contributes to energy efficiency: the XH45 sun protection film, installed by Sun—point from Staudt.
Effective protection from sun and heat
During good weather, ships are permanently exposed to the sun, as they have no natural sun protection on the water. The shipping company therefore opted for the XH45 sun protection film, which helps protect interior spaces from excessive heat. It reflects a large part of the incoming solar energy, which noticeably reduces the temperature inside the ship. This significantly increases comfort on board, especially in the summer months.
Another advantage is the glare protection that the film offers. Especially in areas such as the lounge or the restaurant, where passengers want to enjoy the passing landscape, the film ensures that direct sunlight does not cause any impairment.
Keeping Sustainability in Mind
In addition to guest comfort, energy savings also plays an important role. By reducing the heat on board, the air conditioning system has to work less, which reduces energy consumption. This not only helps to reduce operating costs, but also reduces the ship’s carbon footprint.
