New training center completed
Westheim, Hammelburg
Training power on a new level – more opportunities for training, retraining, and development.
The new training center of BRUXSAFOL Folien GmbH in Hammelburg was completed at the end of last year and has been used for training courses since the beginning of this year. Construction of the center was initiated in November 2024 with a ceremonial groundbreaking and completed within 12 months.
“Building it really tested our nerves—something anyone who has ever been involved in construction can probably relate to. All the more I’m pleased that we can now work here on a completely new level. It’s a real benefit both for the training participants and for our internal processes,” says Managing Director Thomas Brux, who led the project.
With the new building, capacity for hands-on training and qualification programs has been expanded. The concept combines theoretical training areas with significantly enlarged practical spaces: the previously roughly 200 m² training area has been more than doubled by the new center. Three separate “wrapping bays” allow training sessions to run in parallel on vehicles and in other practice scenarios such as building glazing. The offering is complemented by state-of-the-art seminar and event rooms, as well as exhibition and lounge areas.
During construction, the focus was placed on sustainability and on implementing the project as regionally as possible. Almost the entire technical and spatial fit-out was carried out by companies from the region; the general contractor also came from Bavaria. “As a family-run company, it’s important to us to take responsibility in the region—not only by providing jobs, but also through close partnerships locally. Those who plan and deliver regionally strengthen the local economy and create stable structures,” says Managing Director Michael Brux.
Hammelburg’s First Mayor, Armin Warmuth, visited the new training center and learned about the new facilities on site. Warmuth emphasized the importance of companies like this for the local economy: business activities should not be viewed in isolation from their surroundings, but rather as having an impact on the region—for example when training participants book overnight stays, make use of local restaurants, and create demand for regional products.
With the center now up and running, there are plans to further expand the range of continuing education courses on offer. The aim is to create additional training opportunities, thereby supporting professional development and retraining while also meeting the increased demand for qualified specialists in the field of special film installation. One advantage of this is that the desired AZAV accreditation will, in principle, enable longer-term training courses to be funded by the Federal Employment Agency under certain conditions.
What’s next? “Well, for now there are no plans for any further construction, but it’s вполне conceivable that the premises could be available to book as an event venue in the future,” Thomas Brux muses about the plans ahead.

€5,000 Christmas donation
BRUXSAFOL donates €5,000 to local associations and organisations for Christmas
During the Christmas season, BRUXSAFOL makes a special effort to say thank you and visibly support social engagement. This year, BRUXSAFOL is donating a total of €5,000 to associations in which its employees are actively involved. As part of an internal campaign, all employees were invited to suggest associations that are close to their hearts. From all the suggestions submitted, five winning associations were drawn live at a weekly meeting, each of which will receive €1,000 in support. With this campaign, BRUXSAFOL aims to recognise the voluntary commitment of its employees and provide targeted help where dedication and passion are already being put into practice.
These organisations can look forward to a donation of €1,000.
Sportverein FC Alemannia Schwärzelbach
Christiane Aulbach from our architectural film department has been an integral part of BRUXSAFOL for many years – and has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Schwärzelbach sports club for just as long. There, she has not only been involved in organisational tasks and as a member of the board, but has also been active in sports. Her passion for inline skating has already carried her to several marathon finishes, where she has demonstrated her endurance and ambition.
With the BRUXSAFOL donation, the association can push ahead with its project to build a new playground at the clubhouse, creating a facility for young and old alike. It is a project that shows how much community spirit and commitment can achieve.
SV 73 Langendorf
SV 73 Langendorf offers more than just football – gymnastics and table tennis are also part of the club’s activities. Nico Bindrum from our architectural film department is particularly involved here: he volunteers as manager of the ‘Men III’ table tennis team and is himself an active player. After around 30 years, the old table tennis tables have reached the end of their useful life – so the BRUXSAFOL donation, which will now enable 2–3 new tables to be purchased, is all the more welcome. This means that members can continue to be active together, exchange ideas and enjoy the fun of sport in the community.
Reit- und Fahrverein Sulzthal
Matthias Wolf, Head of Advertising Technology at BRUXSAFOL, is not only open to all customer enquiries, but is also involved in his daughter’s riding club in his spare time. He regularly lends a hand there, helping to maintain the riding arena, among other things. With around 30,000 m² of club grounds, helping hands are always needed – which makes his ongoing commitment to the club all the more valuable.
TSV Oberthulba
Julien Kellermann, a trainee in wholesale and foreign trade at BRUXSAFOL, is himself an active footballer and plays for TSV Oberthulba’s first team on the left wing. The club plays in the district league and is currently in 4th place. Founded in 1949, the traditional club was delighted to receive a surprise boost to its coffers at Christmas. The BRUXSAFOL donation supports the club in its ongoing projects and activities for its members.
Animal welfare organisation Stadt und Land Schweinfurt
Doreen Petersen has a big heart for animals. She recently fulfilled her long-held dream of owning a dog with her Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Ceall. But she also supports other animals: as a regular donor, she supports the Schweinfurt Animal Welfare Association, contributing to the important work of the staff there. The BRUXSAFOL donation of €1,000 further promotes this commitment and directly benefits the welfare of the animals – whether in the form of food, medical care or training.

Adhesive film in the Hammelburg Weintenne
Elegant protective system against collisions.
Problem:
Required visual markings on large glass surfaces in event locations
Solution:
BRUXSAFOL adhesive film with digital print – non-sticky, flexible and removable without residue
Achieved performance:
Elegant protective system against collisions with full design freedom
The Weintenne in Hammelburg is one of the most exciting new event locations in the region: modern, stylish and with an impressive view over the Saale valley. Large glass surfaces ensure light-flooded rooms and an open atmosphere – perfect for weddings, celebrations and events of all kinds.
But where there is a lot of glass, clear visual markings are required by law – to protect guests. A particularly flexible solution was chosen for the Weintenne: adhesive film. It requires no adhesive at all, adheres to the glass surface solely through physical forces and can be removed or repositioned without leaving any residue.
This is a real advantage, especially in a location like this: for private events or changing usage concepts, the film can be adapted or temporarily removed if required – it’s very straightforward. This ensures safety without permanently changing the character and style of the room.

BRUXSAFOL protects Vintage car on the way to the Arctic Circle
and supports the good cause
Adventure, passion and social commitment – this is what the charity rally “Oldtimers Going North” combines.
Lars Lehnert and three friends set off north from Munich in a Volkswagen K70 and a Bugatti replica to reach the Arctic Circle after more than 3,000 kilometers and 8 days of driving through four countries. They covered daily stages of up to 570 km, deliberately only drove on small country roads and had to deal with very different surfaces – from asphalt to gravel to cobblestones.
To ensure that the valuable classic cars survived the bumpy stages undamaged, they were protected in advance with XPEL paint protection film. BRUXSAFOL provided the material for this – an invisible protective layer that reliably protects the paintwork from stone chips, scratches and other signs of wear. This was particularly important on a route that deliberately ran away from the highways.
Along the way, the teams experienced impressive landscapes as well as minor technical challenges, such as problems with the generator, which were quickly resolved thanks to active support.

The tour not only had a spectacular destination, but also a social purpose: Lars collected donations for Sternstunden Bayern. The non-profit association Sternstunden e. V. of Bayerischer Rundfunk has been supporting sick, disabled and needy children in Bavaria and around the world since 1993 – and guarantees that 100% of every donation goes to the projects. BRUXSAFOL not only supported the project by sponsoring materials for paint protection, but also contributed an additional €2,000 to the fundraising campaign.

BRUXSAFOL becomes a member of the IBU
A step towards sustainable construction and greater visibility of EPDs
BRUXSAFOL is taking another significant step towards sustainability and a transparent environmental balance sheet: with immediate effect, we are a member of the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU). This partnership opens up new perspectives for us to further intensify our commitment in the field of sustainable construction and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD).
Why IBU?
The IBU is the ideal platform to pursue our goal of creating more visibility for the increasingly important topics of sustainable construction and EPDs. With over 90 EPD-verified window films in our range, we are already a pioneer in the German-speaking market. But we want even more: through IBU membership, we expect not only an increased presence, but also increased networking with other players in the construction industry who are also committed to sustainable solutions.
International recognition and harmonised EPDs
One particularly important aspect is the possibility of recognising EPDs across national borders. The IBU has been campaigning for the harmonisation of EPDs at European and international level for years and works closely with many European and non-European EPD programme holders. As a member, we benefit from this international network, which enables us to offer our EPDs on global markets.
Through our collaboration with the ECO Platform, the umbrella organization of EPD program operators, we are able to offer our window films in other countries in accordance with local standards. This facilitates access to international markets and strengthens our competitive advantage in the global construction industry.
Looking to the Future
Our membership in the IBU is an important milestone in our commitment to sustainable building. We are confident that by working with the IBU, we can further expand our market presence and make a meaningful contribution to the development of environmentally friendly and transparent building products.
You can find more information about our EPD-certified products on our EPD page.

Privacy protection and design of the
modern practice rooms
Dental Clinic Elfershausen
Solution: Lexan 160
Amount of film installed:
approx. 25m2
Following renovation, the rooms of the Riedel dental practice in Elfershausen were fitted with decorative films. The modern practice rooms with their large glass surfaces create a bright, open ambience, but there was a lack of sufficient privacy, which is desirable for treatment. To solve this, decorative films were used that both provide privacy and maintain the brightness of the rooms.
Frost optics and customised designs for perfect interior design
Lexan 160 film with a frosted look was used for the privacy screen, which prevents prying eyes thanks to its matt surface, without blocking the natural light. Installation at half height ensures that patients lying on the dentist’s chair cannot be seen from the outside, but the view outside is still possible.
Thanks to the decorative films, the dental practice was visually enhanced and at the same time equipped with a practical solution for privacy protection and customised design.

Emerald Luna
More comfort on board thanks to modern sun protection technology
Problem:
High room temperature, extreme glare
Solution:
XH45
Amount of Film:
approx. 400 m2
Benefits:
Reduced room temperature and glare, more comfort
Another advantage is the glare protection that the film offers. Especially in areas such as the lounge or the restaurant, where passengers want to enjoy the passing landscape, the film ensures that direct sunlight does not cause any impairment.
Keeping Sustainability in Mind
In addition to guest comfort, energy savings also plays an important role. By reducing the heat on board, the air conditioning system has to work less, which reduces energy consumption. This not only helps to reduce operating costs, but also reduces the ship’s carbon footprint.

Groundbreaking ceremony for training center
BRUXSAFOL Folien GmbH starts construction of the most modern training center for vehicle wrapping and tinting in Europe
Hammelburg, November 18, 2024 – The two managing directors Michael and Thomas Brux symbolically dug the first piece of sod: As part of the official start of the construction of the training center for vehicle wrapping, they took a seat in two excavators and marked the start of BRUXSAFOL’s innovative construction project Folien GmbH. With this investment of over 3 million Euros, the company is setting new standards in training and further education relating to vehicle wrapping. The new center is planned and implemented by the full-service construction company Regenauer and offers an innovative infrastructure for practical and theoretical training.
The training area currently covers around 200 m², but the new training center will more than double this area. Three separate “wrapping boxes” are created in which training courses on vehicles can be carried out simultaneously. The area for practical training will be significantly expanded and a spacious exhibition area, multifunctional seminar and event rooms as well as lounges for networking and events will be created.
With this new building, BRUXSAFOL Folien GmbH creates optimal conditions for practice-oriented training and sets the highest standards in professional qualification.
“With our new training center, we want to create the best conditions to train specialists in vehicle wrapping at the highest level,” says Managing Director Thomas Brux. “The increasing demand for high-quality wrapping not only requires the most modern products, but also highly trained specialists. “Film installer” is not a training profession, we have to develop the industry ourselves. Our new training center will make an important contribution to this.”
Construction of the training center will be completed by the end of 2025.

Sun Protection for the Budweiser Brewery
Foliert von Safex, spol. s r.o.
Traditional brewery relies on modern film technology
Problem:
Glass facades heat up interior spaces
Solution:
BRUXSAFOL sun protection film AX PLUS 20
Amount of film:
So far approx. 900 m2, further installations planned
Benefits:
12°C temperature reduction, furniture fading protection, significant financial savings for airconditioning
The long-established Budějovický Budvar brewery, better known as Budweiser Budvar, is working with our partner Safex on an innovative sun protection solution to significantly improve working conditions in its buildings. At the brewery’s headquarters in České Budějovice, the second largest brewery in the Czech Republic, AX PLUS 20 sun protection film was installed on 900 m² of glass surfaces. The project will be continued on other company buildings in the future.
The brewery, renowned for its world-famous beer and traditional brewing style, was faced with the challenge of controlling rising internal temperatures within its premises. The sun protection film from BRUXSAFOL achieved a significant reduction in the internal temperature of up to 12 °C. This measure not only helps to improve the indoor climate, but also protects the furniture from fading due to UV rays and saves considerable energy costs, as the need for additional cooling measures such as air conditioning or heat pumps is significantly reduced.
The Budweiser Brewery – a place with history
Budějovický Budvar was founded in 1895 and has been a symbol of the high quality of Czech beer ever since. The brewery only uses local ingredients such as Saaz hops and artesian water from 300 meter deep wells, which gives the beer its unique taste. To date, the company exports its beers to over 60 countries worldwide.

Pietro Lombardi drives PWF
The car looks really cool. Like I have a new car. I’m totally in love because it makes driving really fun.
–Pietro Lombardi
Eye-catching, bright, exclusive – that was the demand that singer Pietro Lombardi, known from the TV show DSDS, had for the color of his car. The car had already been wrapped with a competitor’s car wrapping film, but it already had matt spots and no longer met the owner’s visual expectations.
The PWF Authorized Performer company “Foliencenter NRW” in Haan near Düsseldorf carried out the wrapping of his car.

We attended the unveiling of his newly wrapped Punisher Orange vehicle and witnessed his enthusiastic reaction.
When we drove out to the company yard at Foliencenter NRW, the sun even came out briefly so that the shiny metallic particles really came into their own.
Pietro was completely satisfied with the film and the wrapping and is now the proud owner of a car in the PWF Exclusive Line color Punisher Orange.

New Semco Company Building
Stylish glass walls and eye-catching design elements – that’s what the new company building is all about.
Requirement:
Visually enhance the company building with lots of large glass surfaces, create visual room separation, promote the building design
Solution:
Digital printing
Plotted Film
CDF 2403
Iced Haze
Amount of film installed:
approx. 135 m2
Result:
A combination of existing decorative films, individually printed films and plots creates maximum individuality and the right solution for every room.
Semcoglas Glastechnik GmbH has opened a new, ultra-modern building in Sennfeld near Schweinfurt that serves as a center for innovative glass technologies. As a glass manufacturer and contact for all types of functional glass, it is self-evident to equip the open-plan building with many glass surfaces. The advantages are obvious – modern, bright rooms. But in some rooms you need privacy, visual separation and visual markings or you want to make the rooms more colorful and diverse.
As a long-standing partner, Semco has therefore chosen BRUXSAFOL decorative films. Three varieties of film were used.
1. Decorative film from the standard product line
The CDF 2403 film was used here. Long durability, no dirt edges on small-scale patterns and a good price-performance ratio are the advantages of the decorative films from the existing range.

2. Plotted matting film
This technology is suitable for individual shapes, such as this meeting room, in which a visual separation and partial privacy protection towards the corridor was achieved.

3. Individual digital printing
With this option there are no limits to your imagination. All colors, shapes, patterns and even real images are theoretically possible and are printed using a UV laser printer on transparent film that can be laid over the entire surface. Semco has opted for a simple tapering square pattern here.

Museum at the Würzburg Cathedral
„We are glad that we have it. “
Requirement:
Protection of exhibits from UV radiation without changing the structural aesthetics.
Solution:
Bruxsafol UV protection film 2041
Amount of Film:
approx. 40 m2
Benefits:
Protection of valuable exhibits without
impairment of the overall structural appearance.
Bright and light museum rooms without any
noticeable color change.
Another significant advantage of the film is its visible light transmission of 90%. The crystal-clear film is absolutely transparent, so any color changes are not noticeable to the human eye. As a result, the museum rooms remain bright and translucent, making the exhibition appear spacious and open. In 2008, the “Clothing Physiological Institute Hohenstein e. V.” tested the film. It reached the maximum value for UV standard 801. In addition, the light fastness was tested and confirmed based on ISO 105-302.
“Flexible film systems offer architects, but also security managers, many options. Often easier to install and remove than glass, the products that are highly developed in solar technology provide an extremely high level of protection, not just in terms of solar and heat radiation,” explains Winfried Brux, Managing Director of Bruxsafol.
So for the Würzburg museum officials, film installation was the best way to sustainably preserve the unique works of art. It’s good to know that the films can be removed at any time, but it’s not worth mentioning. “We are glad that we have them,” says the museum management.
Adam Opel GmbH
Rüsselsheim
Industrial spies have no view into Opel’s design studio
Requirement:
View protection into the interior of the design studio, without minimal loss of daylight.
Solution:
Bruxsafol Privacy Film Lexan 160
Amount of Film:
approx. 700 m2
Benefits:
Cost effective transformation of a publically accesible bulding into a highly secure and yet light design center.
Technology theft as the misappropriation of secret or protected technological information represents a growing threat for many medium-sized and large international companies. German know-how is in demand worldwide, especially in the automotive industry: Some would like to use this knowledge – on their own behalf and without permission. That is why protection against technology theft is becoming increasingly important for car manufacturers with their high investments in research and development. With this in mind, compliance with high safety standards in development, design and vehicle production to protect against unwanted spies is easy to understand. Privacy films can be part of the security concept, as is the case, for example, in the Adam Opel GmbH automobile plant in Rüsselsheim: There, high-quality privacy films of the Lexan 160 type from BRUXSAFOL were used to protect intellectual property in particularly sensitive areas.
With Sandblas-Effect
In addition to the headquarters and various production halls, the International Technical Development Center ITEZ and the former exhibition room are located at the Opel headquarters. This was converted into a design studio with around 700 m2 of glass area. Under the large glass roof, developers and automobile designers are now working on the design of all Saab and Opel mid-range cars produced worldwide. The polycarbonate film with “sandblast effect”, which is suitable for inside installation, achieves a high level of light dispersion thanks to its structured surface with a light transmission of 90%. This means that the product offers good privacy protection, but at the same time allows a lot of light to pass through – demands that the Opel factory had placed on the films from the beginning. “Privacy films such as our LEXAN 160 or ICED HAZE are also used in the automotive industry for TISAX measures. Protection against espionage is guaranteed with view protection. In contrast to pure mirror films, this is guaranteed on facades regardless of the lighting conditions and therefore at any time of day. As a rule, the installation of LEXAN 160 does not require any increased lighting thanks to its very high light transmission.” says BRUXSAFOL managing director Michael Brux.
Serves every purpose
At Opel in Rüsselsheim, the privacy screen should protect people from looking into the interior of the room, but at the same time let in as much sunlight as possible. “With our films, a building that was previously open to the public could be transformed into a highly secure, yet bright design center within just two weeks,” says Brux. So it’s no wonder that the development managers now work with total ease behind the windows.
Music High School of the Regensburger Domspatzen
Safety Film to Prevent Injuries in a Music High School
Exhibition Halls Brünn (Brno, CZ)
Sun Protection for Exhibition Halls in Brno
Problem:
Intense heating up in the halls and glare of the visitors.
Solution:
Bruxsafol sun protection film XH-45
Amount of film:
approx. 6.800 m2
Benefits:
Heat and glare reduction combined with the conservation of the original look of the building.
The world has known Brno as a city of fairs and exhibitions for more than seven decades. The magnificently designed exhibition center was a masterpiece of functionalist Czechoslovak architecture of the 1920s. The modern era has brought the Brno trade fair business to its greatest heights, because trade fairs are used by the modern economy as an important marketing tool. BVV (Brno Trade Fairs and Exhibitions Company) has no comparable competitor in its own country in terms of the number of international trade fairs, exhibitors, visitors and the size of the exhibition space. Every year there are around 40 trade fairs in the event calendar, half of which are number one in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Brno exhibition center covers a total area of 65 hectares and offers 196,600 square meters of gross exhibition space, of which 107,600 square meters are in the exhibition halls and 89,000 square meters are outside. With its architecture and location, the Brno exhibition center is one of the most beautiful European exhibition sites. In 2000, it was awarded the title of “Building of the Century” for its unique architecture. www.czech-business-services.de
The generous glazing ensures that the halls are flooded with light. However, especially in summer, visitors and exhibitors are unnecessarily burdened by the strong heat. A pleasant visit to the trade fair is hardly possible under such conditions. Since the exhibition halls are monumentally listed buildings, the external view could only be changed insignificantly. Our selective film XH-45 combines high solar rejection and low darkening. The selective properties do not distort the daylight. The exhibited items can be viewed in their natural colors. The relief in summer is enormous, as the G-value of the existing single glazing has been almost halved. All this with almoste no change in the appearance of the buildings.
Castell-Bank Würzburg
Sun protection films for more energy efficiency and safety in the Fürstlich Castell’schen Bank Credit Casse AG
Problem:
Intense heating up of room temperature due to solar radiation.
Solution:
Bruxsafol Sun Protection Film LX-70
Amount of Film:
approx. 58 m2
Benefits:
Reduction of respective room temperatur by an average of 5 °C.
Fürstlich Castellsche Bank Credit Casse AG employs around 270 people in 14 branches and representative offices in Heilbronn and Munich. The bank’s listed headquarters are located in Würzburg, directly on Würzburg’s market square. Due to the nature of the window fronts – these are large, double-glazed wooden windows – the room temperature steadily increases. With this in mind, the decision makers were looking for a cost-effective solution that, on the one hand, offers a high level of sun protection against heat radiation and thus sensible temperature control, but on the other hand does not damage the valuable building structure. The decision was made in favor of the LX-70 Ultimate sun protection film from BRUXSAFOL.
Measurable success:
The glass-film composite creates a light transmission of 72%, an infrared reduction of 95% and UV absorption of 99%. As in the case of the Fürstlich Castell’sche Bank, the loss of light in the visible spectrum is not relevant to the human eye. Another beneficial function is that metal-coated films offer reliable shielding insulation. This applies to high-frequency and electromagnetic waves that can penetrate from outside to inside as well as radiation that can penetrate from inside to outside through window facades. In addition to protection against so-called electrosmog, the aspect of information protection is a decisive factor here.
Conclusion:
In the case of the Fürstlich Castell’sche Bank, the rooms are on average of up to 5 °C cooler than before thanks to the film. In addition, the reduced cooling load on existing air conditioning systems results in noticeable savings in terms of energy consumption. Solutions such as film installation often pay off, especially in older buildings. New glazing is not only more expensive, but can also cause damage to the structure, which is not possible in many cases. The building and its glass surfaces were not visually changed by the installation of LX-70.

With the installation of Solar Gard advanced solar control window film, industry leader Stena Line minimizes fuel consumption, improves comfort for passengers and employees and significantly lowers air conditioning use. The savings based on the cost of air conditioning has been calculated to be approximately 247,000 kWh/year, which could equal fuel savings of 58 m3/15,321 U.S. gallons for one ship. The collaboration between Stena Line and Solar Gard creates vast opportunities, both for the maritime industry leader and the environment.
Lars-Erik Hellring, project manager for Energy Saving Project at Stena Line said: “As one of the largest ferry operators in the world, we realize that it is our social responsibility to do everything possible to protect the environment through energy conservation techniques.”
“One of the immediate and highly-efficient solutions to meet our needs was Solar Gard window film, which has been successfully installed on the windows in nine of our ships. We are anticipating the rest of our fleet to be equipped in the coming months. According to tests by ECIS (EnergyConsultants in Sweden), the measured surrounding air temperature decreases up to +6 degrees Celsius/42 degrees Fahrenheit in a cabin with Solar Gard window film installed, compared to a similar
cabin without film installed
-depending on the weather conditions over the year. The result is approximately 247,000 kWh/year less air conditioning consumption, which could equal fuel savings of 58 m3/15,321 U.S. gallons for one ship.”

Royal Liverpool Golf Club opts for Solar Gard® to keep out damaging UV rays and solar heat
The Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake is the oldest of all English seaside courses bar one, having been established back in 1869, nearly
140 years ago. Golf followers will remember that Tiger Woods
won the 135th Open Championship there recently. The Open, the oldest and most prestigious golf tournament in the world was held at Hoylake
in 2006, the 11th time in Royal Liverpool’s long and celebrated history.
In line with its rich and much respected tradition, Royal Liverpool’s management committee ensures that the Club stays ahead of the times. Following a comprehensive review which has seen the Club spend more than 2 million pounds on an extensive refurbishment of the Clubhouse, the Club’s Committee was looking for
a solution to alleviate the build-up of solar heat coming through the building’s large west-facing windows. The problem was worsened by poor ventilation in the affected areas and lack of an air-conditioning system.
Reducing solar heat while safeguarding memorabilia
Nick Ellis from The Owen Ellis partnership, who were the architects and environmental consultants in charge of the renovation programme at Royal Liverpool Golf Club recommended Solar Gard LX70 window film after weighing up other alternatives including shutters and air-conditioning.
Christopher Moore, Secretary of Royal Liverpool Golf Club says: “The Club is busier than ever today with regular functions being held in the various public areas. We thought of shutters but they would not have worked as they would have obstructed views
of the golf course. We didn’t feel that air-conditioning, by itself, was an environmentally friendly solution. Besides, we needed to address the issue of UV protection, which was critical for a couple of reasons, the first being preventing the brand new furnishings in the Clubhouse from fading. Secondly, the Clubhouse is home to arguably the finest collection of golf memorabilia to be seen outside St. Andrews. It was a major priority of ours to ensure that this be protected from damaging UV rays for many more generations to enjoy.”
When asked about the efficiency of the installation process Mr. Moore says: “80 square meters of window film were installed in just two working days. The contractor knew what he was doing making the whole process very smooth.”
A unique solution for a unique golf venue
LX70 is the most advanced window film within the Solar Gard range. Constructed using exotic metals
this unique film ensures high heat rejection while maximizing the daylight entering through the windows. Solar Gard LX70 can reduce fading of furnishings, flooring and artworks by more than 50% and will not noticeably increase window reflection inside or outside, day or night.
In line with the Clubhouse’s historic style
Talking about his overall impressions of Solar Gard, Mr. Moore comments: “We love the fact that the window film is virtually undetectable. This was one of our key selection criteria along with energy offsetting. We didn’t want a mirror finish on the outside as this would have impaired the distinctive historic character of the building. Ultimately, the film has given us the best of both worlds: energy-efficient protection from solar heat and UV rays for our Club members and memorabilia, while harmoniously complementing
the Clubhouse’s architectural style.”
“I was so impressed by its effectiveness that I have also
had it recently fitted on my
south-facing windows at home!,” concludes Mr. Moore.
