Double Protection: Sun Protection Meets Bird Protection

Many windows, one clever solution

Bird collisions occurred repeatedly on the company grounds of Umwelt- und Ingenieurtechnik GmbH Dresden, right next to Dresden Airport. Although the building does not have large, continuous glass facades, the numerous windows—with only narrow sections of wall between them—also pose a danger to birds. Compounding the problem are the surrounding trees, which are reflected in the windows and create the illusion of a clear flight path for the birds.

At the same time, a mirrored sunshade solution was needed in one wing of the building to improve working conditions for employees.

The solution: Sentinel Silver 35 BFD11 from BRUXSAFOL. This film combines effective bird protection with solar control. An integrated black dot pattern makes the glass surfaces more visible to birds, thereby reducing the risk of collisions. At the same time, the reflective film reduces heat gain from sunlight and provides greater glare protection in the workplace.

The professional installation was carried out by Schilderwerk Dresden.

In this way, the glazing fulfills two important functions: it protects birds and ensures more comfortable working conditions inside the building.
